(Walnut) The final season for the Walnut softball team has turned out to be a very streaky one. The Warrior started off with a bang winning nine of their first eleven games. Then the team lost eight of their next contests to drop to 11-10 overall. Since then it’s been back to the winning ways.
Walnut hasn't fallen short since their 6-0 loss at Glidden Ralston on June 11th. Since then it’s been a string of seven straight victories.
The defending Rolling Hills Conference Champs are still alive in the conference race this season. Walnut has three conference losses while Exira-EHK and Glidden-Ralston each have two. Coach Laci Grooms says a change in the batting order has been a key to the teams seven game win streak.
Walnut is 18-10 on the year taking on an 8-12 Orient-Macksburg. The Warriors will play their final two regular season games in program history at home on Tuesday and Wednesday when they oppose Glidden-Ralston and Villisca.
