(Avoca) The 5-9 AHST baseball team heads into play this week with hopes of getting back to .500 on the season. All four of the team’s games are against opponents who also have losing records.
Head coach Jason Holst says it all comes down to how the team responds after their light week last week. The team played only one game last week which was a first round loss in the Western Iowa Conference Tournament so they will be well rested.
To start off the four game week, the Vikings take on a Riverside team that they beat 11-0 on June 1st.
Coach Holst points out that some of the bright spots to this point in the season have been Kyle Bauerkemper, Tyler Robinson, and John Quist.
Kyle Bauerkemper leads the team with a .278 batting average and Tyler Robinson is hitting .270. John Quist is 4-3 with 2.04 ERA. Quist ranks third in the conference with 48 strikeouts.
Outside of taking on Riverside tonight, AHST will also have games against Underwood, Stanton, and Griswold.
