(Walnut) Exira-EHK overcame an early 3-0 deficit at Walnut last night to pick up a 9-5 victory in Rolling Hills Conference baseball. The Spartans used three hits, two walks, and a pair of Walnut errors to score six runs in the second. Exira-EHK would never trail after the six run second inning. They totaled 13 hits on the night and added to their lead with one run in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Catcher Beck Benton went 4-4 at the plate. Senior Spencer Smith also had a nice night at the plate with three single and two runs.
On the mound, freshman pitcher Tyler Jacobsen improves to an impressive 5-0 on the season. He recorded eight strikeouts and gave up six hits and two walks.
Exira-EHK is 11-3 this year with just one of those losses being in the conference. The Spartans oppose Orient-Macksburg Thursday. Walnut goes into their meeting with CAM on Thursday night with a 9-5 overall record and four losses in the conference.
