(Atlantic) Gunner Blums back to back homeruns sparked the Atlantic Trojans over the Clarinda Cardinals 6-1 in a high school baseball game played at Atlantic Tuesday night. Blum, who belted his 5th and 6th homeruns of the season, accounted for three of the Atlantic six runs.
Blum hit a two run homer in the bottom of the first to give Atlantic a 2-0 lead. The Trojans added 4-more runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. Blum lead off the inning with a solo homerun, Austin Conrad singled and scored on Tyler Hovey’s RBI single. Hovey scored on an error and Kray Lukehart reached base on another error and crossed the plate on Blake Esbeck’s RBI single. The Trojans finished the night with 6-runs-on-7-hits and committed just 1-error. Chris McVey and Derek Stork had the other two hits for Atlantic.
Tyler Hovey tossed a 2-hitter for Atlantic. He struck out 8 batters and walked four.
The Cardinals scored their only run in the fifth inning. Dalton Young walked and advanced on Trent Aldrich’s single and scored on a Trojan error. For the Cardinals they finished with 1-run on 2-hits and committed 2 errors.
Atlantic extends their record to 5-3 and Clarinda drops to 3-6 on the season.
