(Walnut) The Walnut Warriors are 5-1 after their 11-1 victory at home against Adair-Casey last night in a game that aired on KSOM.
Walnut's first three batters all walked to load the bases for cleanup hitter Drew Cable who drove in Ty Johnk and Wyatt Anzalone. Lucas Blum, Cable, and Jared Ploen would also score in the first to give Walnut a comfortable 5-0 cushion. The strong offense continued in the second inning where Cable drove in Anzalone and Blum on a base hit. Cable would finish the night with three hits and four RBI's. He also scored the Warriors third run of the second inning when he crossed home plate on an Austin Stevens RBI groundout.
Adair-Casey's only run of the game came in the third inning when Cole Palmer reached on an error and eventually came around to score. Walnut answered back in the bottom of the third with to more runs to make it 10-1. The game ended in the bottom of the fifth when Zach Hemmingson scored his second run of the night on a Johnk single to right field. Walnut used seven walks and eight hits to score their 11 runs.
In his first starting pitching performance of the year Johnk (pictured) struck out five while allowing one hit and one walk to get the win.
Walnut is 5-1 heading into a matchup with Exira-EHK on Monday. Adair-Casey falls 2-2.
