(Atlantic) Former Atlantic Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Bob Sweeney is coming out of retirement. After, taking four years off Sweeney has accepted the job of Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Shenandoah.
Sweeney says he was contacted about the job and after discussing it with his wife Kathy, he decided to take it.
“I interviewed with them last Friday afternoon and at the conclusion of that conversation the board made a formal decision to offer me the job,” stated Sweeney. “I had the weekend to think about and I verbally accepted the position Monday night.”
Bob Sweeney is no stranger to Shenandoah; he spent many years as a coach and administrator at that school district back in the late 80’s.
“I am not a foreigner to southwest Iowa or the Hawkeye Ten Conference. “I think I know the turf and I truly believe I can be an asset to their school district and their community, said Sweeney. “We have talked about a two-year agreement and one of my personal goals is to enhance the position of Assistant Principal and Athletic Director to the Community and the School District of Shenandoah.”
Bob Sweeney and his wife Kathy currently reside in Atlantic where Kathy is currently employed at Rolling Hills Bank. The two will continue to live in Atlantic.
