(Griswold) Griswold hopes of defending their state championship got a huge boost from a pair of runners that were not on last year's championship team. Two freshman went 1-2 for the Tigers in the 3,000 Meter run on Thursday. Rebekah Topham crossed the finish line in 10:33.66 to claim her first of what many expect to be several gold medals in her career.
Twenty-three seconds later, fellow freshman Alyx Flippen who is often overshadowed by Topham's impressive resume, earned a silver medal for the Tigers when she finished in 10:56.67.
The dynamic freshman duo will try to repeat the feat when they each run in the 1,500 later this week. Topham will also run in the 800 and the 400M Low Hurdles.
