ATLANTIC THROWER SHOOTING FOR GOLD

(Atlantic) Atlantic Senior Tyler Hovey has high goals when he steps into the Discus ring at the state track meet tommorrow morning. Hovey’s 172-04.00 throw at the state qualifying meet was the top throw in all of 3A. Last year he placed 8th in the state meet with a toss of 151-04.00. Hovey’s exceeded his goal to throw 170-feet and now he has a chance to bring home a state title.

Hovey’s toughest competition will be Derek Seddon, of Knoxville who finished third at the state meet last year, and Ethan Kenkel, of Storm Lake, who threw 175-feet earlier this season

Another interesting note, Hovey has changed his practice schedule this week. He says he had a coach suggest to him that he change his workout to around 11:30 in the morning, the same time he will be competing at the state meet. Hovey says he brought it up to his throwing Coach Roger Warne and they took that advice. Hovey said, "We will see what happens."

Tyler Hovey also has a great chance to score in the shot Put. His state qualifying throw of 54-3.25 ranks fifth best in Class 3A. He competes in that event at 11:30 Friday morning.
