MEMBER OF '02 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SELECTED AS NEXT ATLANTIC HEAD COACH

(ATLANTIC) The Atlantic Community School District has named Nick Ross the new Head Football Coach for the Atlantic Trojan football team.

Nick is currently serving the district as a history and physical education teacher at the Atlantic High School. Nick is a 2003 graduate of Atlantic High School. Nick played football for Atlantic and served as a team captain for Atlantic’s 2002 state championship football team. Nick then continued his playing days at Drake University where he played linebacker and served as a team captain his junior and senior seasons.  After Nick’s playing days were over, Nick began his coaching career at the collegiate level, serving as a linebackers coach for the Drake University Bulldogs. Nick then took a teaching and Assistant Football Coaching position at Waukee High School and most recently the Defensive Coordinator for the 2011 Atlantic Football team.

In an interview with KSOM/KS95.7 Sports, Atlantic activities director Josh Rasmussen said Ross's leadership style stood out among the other candidats. Rasmussen says the position did receive several applications and adds that the expectations are very high for the future of Atlantic football.
