(Clarinda) With a 51-42 win over CAM, the Exira-EHK Spartans advance to the sub-state final to take on Nodaway Valley.

Exira and Elk Horn-Kimballton's initial season resulted in a trip to state a year ago and now the Spartan's find themselves one win away from a return trip to Wells Fargo Arena. The Spartan's improved to 22-1 on the season and eliminate the CAM Cougars (19-5) from postseason play.

Exira-EHK held a 10-9 lead after one quarter but then exploded for a 10-2 run to start the 2nd quarter and never trailed the rest of the way. Zach Himmelberg and Dayton Rasmussen each scored 14 points in the win. Ryan Aupperle (13) and Dan Holste (11) were each in double figures for CAM. Holste's back-to-back three pointers cut the lead to as little as six with three minutes left, but CAM was unable to complete the comeback.

KSOM will have play-by-play coverage of the substate game from Southwestern Community College in Creston. 21-2 Nodaway Valley and 22-1 Exira-EHK will tip-off at 7:00 on Saturday.

Exira-EHK Scoring: Z. Himmelberg 14, D. Rasmussen 14, S. Smith 8, P. Waymire 6, C. Anderson 5, K. Hoflen 4

CAM Scoring: R. Aupperle 13, D. Holste 11, T. McKee 8, I. Hunt 4, D. Amdor 3, M. Holste 3
