(Area) Loren Williams of Tri-Center and Seth Esaias of Red Oak share the KSOM Athlete of the Week honor. Each wrestler claimed an individual state title on Saturday. For the 152 pound Williams it was his second state championship and for the 182 pound Esaias it was his first.
Loren Williams is a junior for Tri-Center who now has two state titles under his belt and a 155-13 career record. He placed 3rd as a freshman at 135, won a state title a year ago at 145, and capped off an undefeated season with a 152 pound championship this year. Tri-Center head coach Andy Hensley refers to Williams as 'not a pinner he's a winner.'
For Seth Esaias of Red Oak, he also finished the season undefeated (54-0). It took overtime in the finals against Garrett Smith of Denver-Tripoli, but Esaias eventually got the pin. Red Oak coach Tiegan Podliska says Esaias is the total package as a wrestler with physicality and a great mental approach.
Esaias ends his career with a 177-16 record. He was a four year state qualifier, placing 7th as a sophomore and winning the championship as a senior.
