(Manning) IKM-Manning eliminated Audubon from the Class 2A Girls Regional Basketball Tournament with their 41-16 win Tuesday night.
IKM-Manning held a 9-5 first quarter lead, but picked up their eighth team foul of the first half with over six minutes to go in the second quarter. Instead of allowing Audubon to get back in the game from the free-throw line, head coach Gene Rasmussen elected to slow the game down. The Wolves took over four minutes of time off the clock late in the 2nd quarter on one possession and held a 14-7 halftime lead. It was all IKM-Manning in the second half, with the Wolves outscoring Audubon 14-2 in the third quarter and 27-9 in the second half.
IKM-Manning was led in scoring by Junior Kaylee Blake who surpassed the 1,000 point total in her career. Blake was the only scorer in the game to hit double-figures and she scored all 15 of her points in the second half.
IKM-Manning improves 21-2 on the season and will play Des Moines Christian on Friday. Audubon’s season comes to an end with a 15-7 record.
