(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley earned a share of the Pride of Iowa Conference girls championship last night with a 38-35 win over Bedford. Bedford came in undefeated and ranked #2 in the state in class 1A but now splits the Pride of Iowa title with Nodaway Valley.
Wolverine head coach Tom Thompson says his squad knocked down three three-pointers in the first quarter to take an early lead and used good ball handling to close out the game. Coach Thompson adds that the hometown crowd was a key. For Nodaway Valley it’s just their 2nd Pride of Iowa title in school history. The last time the Wolverines were on top of the Pride of Iowa at the end of the season was when they split the championship with Pleasantville and Bedford in the 05-06 season.
Nodaway Valley finishes the regular season with an overall record of 19-2. They will play Clarinda in the first round of the Class 2A Regional tournament on Saturday.
