(Griswold) Griswold freshman cross country star Rebekah Topham has been honored as the Gatorade Iowa Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Topham won every race of the season for the Griswold Tigers including the Class 1A state meet where she finished 32 seconds ahead of the closest competition. In addition to athletic excellence, the honor recognizes outstanding academic achievements and exemplary character.
Topham now becomes a candidate for the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. The winner of the national award will be announced in January.
