(Greenfield) The Nodaway Valley boys basketball team has won nine straight games and the Wolverines are ranked 4th in the state in Class 1A. Coach Darrell Burmeister says the team is playing their best basketball of the season.
Nodaway Valley’s 75-33 win over Bedford last night marked their third win in the last five calendar days. It’s a stretch that started with a big 69-46 win over previously unbeaten Pleasantville on Friday. Nodaway Valley also beat CAM Saturday 64-40 and rolled past Bedford Tuesday by 42 points.
Alex Welsch has 20 points on 10-11 shooting Tuesday. T.J. Bower went 5-6 from the floor with 13 points, and Dan Ersham totaled 10 points on 4-5 shooting. Coach Burmeister says the team’s defensive improvement has been a big key to the nine game winning streak. Nodaway Valley is allowing just 37.4 ppg in their nine wins this season.
The Wolverines take on Interstate-35 on Friday and then will have a big non-conference matchup with 8th ranked Treynor on Saturday. The Treynor contest is part of the 6th Annual Jennie Ed Sports Med MAC Shootout in Council Bluffs.
