(Atlantic) Paige Kennon’s free throw with a half-second to go in the game was enough to give Atlantic a 46-45 win over Tri-Center in girls basketball action Monday night at Atlantic. Kennon driving for the winning layup was fouled just before the end of regulation. She missed the first and drained the second shot for the one point win.
Tri-Center, leading 17-16 at the halftime break outscored the Trojanns 22-9 in the third quarter. The run was sparked by six-three point shots, as they ended the third quarter with a commanding 38-26 lead. However, Atlantic came back and outscored Tri-Center 20-7 in the fourth quarter.
The Trojanns start with the week with some momentum as they head to Creston tonight and travel to Red Oak on Friday night.
Alex Hartwig lead the Trojanns with 16-points and MacKenzie Holmes pitched in 8. Emily Baatz and Nikki Paulson lead Tri-Center with 12 and 11-points respectively.
Atlantic goes to 3-7, and Tri-Center falls to 6-4. The Trojanns travel to Creston tonight. We will have that game on 95.7f.m. Pre-game starts at 7:25.
