(Iowa City) 2009 Atlantic High School graduate and Class 3A 110 meter high hurdle state record holder Jordan Mullen is less than a week away from entering his junior indoor season at the University of Iowa.
Mullen broke a school record in the 60 meter hurdles during the indoor season last year with a time of 7.75 and during the outdoor season, Iowa Assistant Track Coach Joey Woody says Mullen was looking like a top contender at the NCAA meet until an injury at the Drake Relay’s cut his sophomore season short.
Coach Woody reports that Mullen has been working hard to avoid injuries heading into his junior season and says one big thing that sets Mullen apart from the competition is his competitiveness.
Iowa begins their indoor season this weekend in Iowa City with the New Year’s Classis. Coach Woody says Mullen may be held out as a precaution, but he is expected to run at the Adidas Invite at the University of Nebraska the following weekend.
