(Atlantic) A big second quarter boosts Atlatnic to a 58-29 win over Harlan Tuesday night in a boy’s High School basketball game at Atlantic.
The Trojans outscored the Cyclones 14-4 in the second period to take a 29-14 lead into the locker room. Harlan closed the gap to nine early in the third quarter, until Sam Markham (#15 pictured in an earlier game at Red Oak) hit a three-point shot for the Trojans with 2:15 left in the third quarter and led 39-22 after three.
Solid defense was the key for Atlantic. Sam Markham held Cyclone top scorer Zach Osborn to just 5-points, and slowed the game down with around 2-minutes left in the game to close it out 58-29.
Three players finished in double figures for Atlantic. Sam Markham led the way with 15-points, Dalton Franken scored 13-despite being the target of a diamond and one defense, and Chad Christiansen finished the night with 12. Harlan’s 6’7 post player Seth Lansman led the Cyclones with 10-points.
Atlantic heads to the Christmas break with a 5-1 record, Harlan goes to 5-2.
