(Orange City) Former Adair-Casey first team all state basketball player Zack Leeper is now enjoying success as a member of the Northwestern College Red Raiders basketball team.
After starring for the Bombers in high school, Zack Leeper is emerging as a solid player on the collegiate level at Northwestern College, an NAIA Division II school in Orange City. Leeper led Adair-Casey to a state tournament appearance as a senior in 2009 and then redshirted in his initial college season at Northern State in South Dakota before transferring to Northwestern to play for coach Kris Korver.
Coach Korver, whose nephew Kyle is a member of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, runs an offense that features a lot of three point shooting. It’s an offense that Leeper has excelled in.
Leeper is second on the team with his 12.9 point per game average. He leads the squad in three pointers made and credits his teammates for much of his success.
Leeper scored 14 points in a win on Wednesday night over Mt. Marty. Northwestern, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, is 8-1 on the season. 2009 Atlantic high school graduate Jacey Hoegh and 2011 Logan-Magnolia graduate Levi Ettelman are also members of the team. Their next game will be at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.
