(Harlan) Harlan Quarterback Zach Osborn earns this week’s KSOM Athlete of the Week award. The senior led the Cyclones to their 26th appearance in the state semi-finals and set a new Harlan record in the process. During the Cyclones 35-14 loss to Decorah at the UNI-Dome on Monday, Osborn became Harlan’s single season leader in passing yardage. He passed his older brother Joel Osborn who threw for 3,261 yards while leading Harlan to a state championship in 2003. Osborn threw for over 300 yards in four different games this season including 364 yards and five touchdowns against Winterset in week 8 of the regular season and 359 yards and three touchdowns in the state quarterfinal win against previously undefeated Boyden Hull Rock Valley. On the season Osborn threw for 33 touchdowns and gave up just nine interceptions. He also ran for 10 touchdowns this season. Yesterday Osborn was named as the Class 3A District 1 First team all-district quarterback.
