STANTON, KUEMPER CATHOLIC, AND ST. ALBERT QUALIFY FOR STATE VOLLEYBALL


(Cedar Rapids) The pairings are set for the Class 1A and 2A State Volleyball Tournaments. In Class 1A #5 Stanton swept Corning Tuesday night to earn a trip back to state for the 2nd straight year. Stanton improves to 33-1 on the year and will play #4 Boyden-Hull (27-3) on Thursday, November 10th. If Stanton wins they will play either Tripoli or Woodward-Granger in the semi-finals on Friday. Other Class 1A matchups include:

 

#1 Tripoli (37-3) vs #10 Woodward Granger

#9 East Union (32-4) vs #2 LeMars Gehlen Catholic (32-1)

#6 Janesville (29-10) vs Holy Trinity Catholic (32-1)

 

In Class 2A, Kuemper Catholic advanced to state with a sweep of Gilbert. Madi Drees had 18 kills in the match as the Knights head to Cedar Rapids with a 23-8 record. Kuemper will oppose #1 ranked Western Christian. Western Christian is the defending state champion and is 47-1 this year.

 

St. Albert was able to oust Pella Christian in five sets last night. Nevada Meis had a monster night at the net with 26 kills in the Regional final win. The 30-9 Saintes matchup with undefeated and 2nd ranked Lake Mills in the first round on Thursday.
