(Griswold) Griswold freshman Rebekah Topham captured the Class 1A individual title at the Class 1A State Girls Cross Country meet Saturday. The freshman finished in a sizzling time 13:59 seconds, which is fourth fastest all-time behind, Iowa greats Katie Flood, Dowling, Catholic, 13.27, Ashlie Decker, Dowling, 13.37, and Shelby Houlihan, Sioux City, East, 13:40.
Griswold, with all under classman finished third overall with 142-points. The individual finishes for the Tigers include; Jordyn Sindt, (jr), 17, Alyx Flippin, (fr.), 31, Larissa Backhaus, (jr), 35, Allison Young, (jr), 58, Baily Powers, (jr), 62, and Bridget Maurer, (fr), 69. Pekin topped the class with 75-points, and Earlham was second with 131.
Tri-Center was sixth overall with 193-points. Michelle Mumm lead the way with a 7th place finish, and 12th overall. Ashton Alfers was 10th, and 16th overall.
Corning was 8th, with 207 points. Tiffany Shepard lead the Red Raiders with a 6th place finish, and 11th overall. Kristin Carmichael was 17th and 32nd overall.
In other finishes, Leah Courtney, of Guthrie Center, 34th (12:47), and Megan Diest, of Audubon was 37th (15:56).
