(Fort Dodge) Atlantic Senior Ali Krogman ends her high school cross country career with a solid performance at the state meet at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge Saturday afternoon.
Krogman, who finished in the top seven for the fourth consecutive year, ran sixth today in a time of 14.59. Before that she was fifth her freshman year, champion as a sophomore, and seventh as a junior. "I was kinda disappointed with my time," stated Krogman."I started out fast and felt good, but the I got boxed in at about the 800 mark. But thankfully I was able to work my back up to the front of the pack."
Madison Waymire, of Dallas Center-Grimes, who was runnerup in 2010, won the race in a time of 14.09. Lauren Benzing, was the runner-up in a time of 14.30, Anna Holdiman, of Waverly-Shell Rock, third, in 14.43, Lauren Nuemberger, of Maquoketa, fourth, in 14.50, Gabi Merrick, of Pella, was fifth in a time of 14.53. Krogman was clocked in 14.59.
In other highlights, the Harlan Community girls team finished 11th overall, with 233-points. Jessica Feldman, of Harlan lead the Cyclones with a 23rd place finish, Baily Kuhl, was 26th. Shenandoah-Essex was 13. Dubuque Wahlert, won the girls 3A team title with 94-points.
