(Audubon) Led by outstanding freshman Rebekah Topham, the Griswold Tiger girls were able to claim another Western Iowa Conference cross country championship. Topham claimed the individual title in an impressive time of 13:13. Topham finished 1:43 ahead of the runner up. Jordyn Sindt placed fourth for a Griswold team that had four runners in the top ten and finished 25 points ahead of runner up Audubon. Griswold entered the very competetive meet as the favorite and left little doubt as to who the best girls team in the conference is this year.

Outside of Topham and Sindt's performances, Larissa Backhaus placed 7th, Alyx Flippin was 9th, and Allison Young was 15th. Griswold coach Jane Chaillie said afterwards that the kids knew they had to make sure they performed to the best of their potential even though they knew they were favored to win the meet.
