(Harlan) The Harlan baseball team stands alone in first place in the Hawkeye-10 conference standings after a come from behind win over St. Albert last night.
Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th, Harlan rallied back for the 5-4 win. With two singles and a hit batter, Harlan's 7, 8, and 9 hitters all reached to load the bases with nobody out. At that point Harlan looked poised for a comeback, but leadoff man Nate Gettys popped out to third base and Dillon Sears followed with a sharply hit lineout to right field. Nick Tarney represented the last hope for the Cyclones and delivered with a 2-out, 2-run double to right center to tie the game at 4. With runners at 2nd and third, cleanup hitter Derek Leinen popped up to right field and the game appeared to be destined for extra innings, but St. Albert lost the ball in the lights allowing Adam Juhl to score the game winning run from third base. The Cyclones improve to 14-6 on the year with the win. They are now in sole possession of first place in the conference, holding a one game lead with 5 conference games remaining include a game at Atlantic Wednesday night that will air on KS95.7FM.
