(Greenfield) Less than a week and a half remains in the softball regular season and we’ll have softball Thursday tonight on KSOM when Nodaway Valley takes on East Union.
Nodaway Valley has just two teams with winning records on their remaining schedule giving them a good opportunity to gain some confidence heading into the Class 2A Regional Tournament where they will see 8-10 Southwest Valley. The Wolverines themselves are 7-10 heading into Wednesday's contest with Orient-Macksburg. They enter play tonight with a .259 team average and are scoring five runs per game. Paige McElfish leads the offense hitting .391 with 4 home runs. Josie Carter is hitting .375 and has smacked one out of the park this season.
Nodaway Valley’s strength has been their pitching where they have a 3.16 ERA ranking 4th in the Pride of Iowa Conference. McElfish has tossed nearly every inning this season for a group that shook off a slow start to the season. Nodaway Valley began just 1-5, but they’ve now won 5 of their last 7.
This is their second meeting against East Union this season, they won the first game 11-2. East Union is 3-13 on the year.
