(Area) IKM-Manning will meet AHST and Underwood will face Logan-Magnolia in the semi-finals of the Western Iowa Conference softball tournament. The semi-finals and finals will be played all on Thursday with three games to be held in Irwin.
IKM-Manning picked up their 6th straight win and the last three of them have been shutout wins by 10 runs or more. 8th grader Peyton Gross tossed a 3-inning 1-hitter and lowered her season ERA to 1.13. She has an 11-0 record. IKM-Mannings office has scored 10 or more runs in 4 of their last 6 contests. Last night Carly Irlmeier, Miranda Hansen, Courtney Monson, and Cristyn Eischeid each drove in two runs each while Monson, Eischeid and Jessica Singsank each had multi-hit games. IKM-Manning scored 9 runs in the 2nd inning to take a commanding lead. The Wolves are 17-3.
AHST got a 3-for-3 day with 3 runs driven in by Haley Constable as they beat Tri-Center 4-2. The Lady Vikes have now won 7 of their last 8 games and are 12-5 overall. Angeline Enke was 2-2 batting with a walk. AHST led 4-0 going into the bottom of the 7th and held off the Trojan's comeback attempt. Jessica Butcher allowed 9 hits but didn't walk anybody holding Tri-Center to just 2 runs.
Missouri Valley snapped a 3 game losing streak with their win over an Underwood team that had eliminated Audubon 6-5 earlier in the night. It was a close game most of the way with Missouri Valley posting a 3-run 6th to extend a 4-1 lead to 7-1. Underwood rallied int he 7th but couldn't get any closer than the 7-3 final. Underwood had beaten Audubon 6-5 earlier in the night.
Logan-Magnolia gets a win over Treynor improving to 14-3 in the process. Lo-Ma now gets a chance to avenge one of their 2 conference setbacks when they host Missouri Valley in the semi-finals on Thursday.
