(Area) Underwood, IKM-Manning, Treynor, and Logan-Magnolia all moved on to the semi-finals of the Western Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament with wins on Monday. 


Underwood scored a 7-run 3rd inning to cruise past Tri-Center 11-1. The #1 seeded Eagles improve to 12-2 overall. Tri-Center had defeated Audubon 4-2 to advance to the nightcap, but have now been eliminated. 


(9-7) IKM-Manning won a close one, 3-2, over Missouri Valley. Jared Volstedt pitched the win striking out 7 batters in the complete game with 9 hits and 1 BB given up. Volstedt and Joe Thraen each had two hits, but the big blow came form freshman Cody Chapman with a three-run homer in the 2nd.

Treynor is now 15-4 on the season after topping Riverside 15-4. Riverside had topped Griswold 9-0 in the first game of the doubleheader. Treynor took advantage of 9 walks to score 15 runs on just 6 hits. Grant Mantell, a sophomore pitcher, tossed five innings and struck out 6 batters while giving up 5 hits.


Logan-Magnolia stayed hot, the Panthers have won 5 straight to improve to 14-5 overall. They've beaten top two seeds Treynor and Underwood in the span of that 5 game win streak. Last night it was AHST they downed 9-2, behind the pitching of freshman Austin Haner. Haner struck out 7 batters in 5 IP and gave up 3 hits with 2 BB. The offense pounded out 12 hits with Jarek Richardsen, Jamison Muxfeldt, Brady Charbonneau, and Brett Greenwood all having two hits each.


Wedesday's Semi-fianls will be a double header at Logan. Game one is 12-2 Underwood against 9-7 IKM-Manning. Game two is 15-4 Treynor against 14-5 Logan-Magnolia
