(Kimballton) A season of dominance for Exira-EHK in softball continued last night with a win over Ar-We-Va 4-0. The Spartan softball team is a perfect 13-0 on the season and their average margin of victory is over 8 runs per game.
Coach Jana Smith says she's been satisfied with the season so far and notes the offense has been much improved. That offense is hitting .298 as a group with 7 home runs. Coach Smith says one of the biggest threats to any team's season is complacency. She admits that's been something the team has had to deal with throughout a season featuring several shutout and blowout wins.
Exira-EHK narrowly missed out on the state tournament in both 2012 and 2103, coming up just short in back-to-back regional finals. But they have graduated only two seniors in that span.
Including tonight's contest with Glidden-Ralston, the Spartans have just eight regular season games remaining before they attempt to take things one step farther in the 2014 regional tournament.
