(Denison) The Monarchs of Denison-Schleswig pounded out 15 and scored 7-runs in a decisive 5th inning to beat Atlantic 11-6 Tuesday evening. Denison-Schleswig is now 15-3 overall, all three losses were non-conference, and all three were by a single run.


The Monarchs grabbed the early lead with a run in the first inning on three hits including a Sam Pick triple to right field. Atlantic claimed their first lead in the game in the third inning when they scored three runs on three hits. The Trojans had Erin Olsen, Leah Tjepkes, and Mollee Welter all score in the inning. Trailing 3-1, Denison-Schleswig responded right away with a three run bottom of the third. The Monarchs pounded out five hits in the frame as Codie Finerann, Shae Kirscht and Sadie Peterson all singled and scored in the inning. Atlantic fired back in the 5th inning with two-runs to lead 5-4. The Trojans got back to back RBI singles with two outs from Maren McNees and Erin Olsen. Denison-Schleswig again responed immediately, this time taking the lead for good in a 7-run 5th. They had four hits, one walk, one hit batter, and one Atlantic error in the big inning to take an 11-5 lead. Atlantic's final tally of the game came in the 6th when Brooke Newell scored on an Emily Mitchell base hit. 


The Trojans fall to 11-8 on the season. Ally Anderson suffered the loss in the circle, she's 6-4 on the year. Paige Lansink got her 14th win for the Monarchs striking out four batters while allowing 8 hits and 3 walks.
