(Atlantic) The Atlantic baseball team extended their record to 8-1 Thursday night with an 8-3 win over Shenandoah. The Trojans scored eight runs on 13 hits.
Garrett Franken went the distance for the Trojans. He pitched a three hitter, struck out four, walked two, and hit two batters.
The Trojans opened up a four-to-nothing lead through five innings, before the Mustangs plated two runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap to 4-2. However, Atlantic responded with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 8-2. The Mustangs mustered a run in the top of the seventh before Franken closed the door on the Mustangs with an 8-3 win.
Collin Baker led the Trojans at the plate with three hits including an RBI single in the first inning. Zach Nelson was 2-2, Tyler Thomas, 2-4 with an RBI, Brendon Holmes had two-hits and an RBI, Logan Steffens went 2-4, with an RBI, and Travis Petersen and Joey Walker had one hit a piece.
Jackson Baker, Jose Rendon, and Devon Perkins each had singles for the Mustangs.
Atlantic extends their record to 8-1 and Shenandoah falls to 3-9.
