(Iowa City) Kate Walker, of Red Oak, is on a tear at the girls state tennis tournament. The junior won her first round match 6-0, 6-2 over Hannah Fox of Waverly-Shell Rock and then advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stephanie Willis, of West Burlington Notre Dame.
Walker's teammate Paige Vannausdle lost in the first round to #1 seed Haley Resnick, of Davenport Assumption, 6-0, 6-0.
Red Oak's doubles team of Erica Sherman and Grace Blomstedt has advanced to the semi-finals. They are seeded #4 in the tournament.
Audrey Fyock and Jenna Taylor of Creston, won their first round matchup before falling in the quarterfinals. Kayla Rogers and Sarah Cabeen of Clarinda lost their first round matchup and will meet a doubles team from Keokuk in the consolation first round.
In Class 2A singles, Abby Bergsten, of Lewis Central won her first round match against Griffin Rasche of Clinton, and then lost in the quarterfinals to #4 seed Judith Fan, of Ames.
