(Oakland) The Boys State Soccer Tournament kicks off tomorrow at noon in Des Moines. Riverside will take on Mid-Prairie-Wellman in the first round at 12:10p.m. on Field 8.

Riverside comes in at 16-2, the Bulldogs have won 13 straight games. They are making their 2nd straight trip to state. First round opponent Mid-Prairie, Wellman, winners of 9 in a row, comes in at 15-2 on the year.

Coach John Thomas says one big advantage his team has over their opponent is the experience of playing at state last year. Because of that he thinks his squad will play more relaxed. He admits there is a lot of pressure on the team.

Riverside has been solid in several areas this year, but coach Thomas says the thing that stands out is their defense. The Bulldogs have posted seven shutouts this season. David Anderson has been among the state leaders in save percentage all season long. He's stopped 91.2% of shots.

Riverside took out AHST and St. Albert en route to the state tourney. Coach Thomas says beating St. Albert proved that they are worthy of going to state.
