(Waterloo) Byrnes Park in Waterloo was the site of the Boys State Tennis Tournament which wrapped up over the weekend.
Garret Taylor, from Creston/O-M, placed 5th in the Class 1A field and Jordan Nelson, of Red Oak, was 8th. Philip Meier, of Shenandoah, also competed at state but was elimated with a pair of losses in his first two matches.
Clarinda posted a doubles win to start the tournament with Dedric Kettwick and Austin Smith, but the Cardinal duo lost their 2nd match. Glenwood's doubles team of Cole Peckham and Max Chavez lost both of their matches at state.
In Class 2A Singles Caleb Shudak, a sophomore from Lewis Central, placed 8th. Kyle Crowl, from Abraham Lincoln, also competed at state. He lost his first two matches.
