Morningside and Grand View advance, Central and Wartburg bow out in college football playoffs

(Area) NAIA #1 ranked Morningside made a big statement on Saturday with their shutout win over #9 St. Xavier.

The Mustangs advance to the next round with a 51-0 win. Addison Ross, of Carroll, caught six passes for 51 yards. The victory sets up an all-Iowa semfinal next Saturday. Morningside will host #4 Grand View on December 7th. Both teams are undefeated.

Grand View moved on with a 14-6 decision over #5 College of Idaho on Saturday in Des Moines. Senior defensive back Hunter Kloewer, of Harlan, was in on one tackle for the Vikings.

In NCAA Division III playoff action #23 Central was eliminated with a loss to #3 Wheaton by a score of 49-13. Exira-EHK’s Martin Olson registered one tackle for the Dutch. Jason Hopp, of Earlham, had nine carries for 22 yards and four catches for 40 yards.

#17 Wartburg was defeated by #7 Wisconsin-Whitewater, 41-28.
