More details released on fatal semi accident on I-80

(Atlantic) The Iowa State Patrol has released more information on a fatal semi accident that occurred on I-80 in Cass County.

The accident happened at around 5:30 a.m. at the 61 mile marker eastbound. 38-year-old Adam Wolf, of Omaha, was killed in the accident. 51-year-old Angelo Chiarelli, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was transported to Cass County Memorial Hospital by Medivac with injuries.

According to the report, Chiarelli was driving a 2012 Volvo semi eastbound on I-80 and for unknown reasons he left the roadway and struck a bridge, causing the semi to roll onto the driver’s side. Wolf, who was driving a 2007 International Semi eastbound on I-80, collided with Chiarelli’s semi. Both semis caught fire.

Wolf was pronounced dead at the scene.
