AUDUBON CITY COUNCIL PASSES NEW PRECINCT BOUNDARIES PENDING A WORDING CHANGE
(Audubon) The Audubon City Council agreed to combine unincorporated areas between the city of Audubon and Audubon County as one voting precinct pending the wording of the agreement. Audubon Mayor Sam Kaufman says he did not sign it so it is not effective as of this news release.
“The city Attorney thought the agreement should include the city of Gray, so the council passed it pending the research on that,” stated Mayor Kaufman.
The reason for the boundary change according to Mayor Kaufman is that Audubon is not a big population center. “It will cheapen the price of having an election because we won’t have all those precincts open, “said Kaufman. “Instead, voters will just have to come to the one. It doesn’t make sense to have 10-voters in one precinct because you have to hire a lot of expensive help.”
The new precinct would include; Lincoln, Cameron, Viola, Douglas, Leroy, and Melville Townships and the City of Audubon.
