OPERATION T-BONE BEGINS TONIGHT
(Audubon) The 61st Annual Operation T-Bone Days begins this evening. Audubon Mayor Sam Kaufman says this is one of the biggest annual events in Audubon.
“This is our biggest event of the year right now,” stated Kaufman. “Our class reunions are held during the same weekend and a lot of people come to town.”
The event kicks off with The Power Team performance at 7:00 p.m. and Mayor Kaufman has even agreed to lie on a bed of nails this evening.
“Matt Andersen of Elk Horn asked me if I would do it and of course as Mayor you have to do a lot of funny things,” said a chuckling Kaufman. “He said there is nothing to worry to about so I said, sure I’ll do it.”
The 2011 T-Bone “Wagon Master” is Donnie Andersen.
The event runs through Tuesday, August 9 with the Operation T-Bone Cattle Auction at Anita Livestock from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Tomorrow’s events start at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by The Power Team at the Fairgrounds, a hamburger feed, and the T-Bone Special Figure 8 car Race. Fireworks are at 9:45 and a teen dance will start at 10:00 p.m.
Saturday features a daylong list of events beginning with breakfast in the Memorial building at 7:00 a.m.
