LONG STRETCH OF HOT WEATHER LIKELY TO CONTINUE
(Atlantic) Wednesday marked the 12th time in 13 days that the temperature in Atlantic had reached at least 90 degrees. Monday’s 89 degree reading was the only exception in that stretch. State climatologist Harry Hillaker says it’s a bit unusual to have this long of a stretch of 90 degree weather. He says it’s the high humidity that has kept the heat index readings in the triple digits through midnight. Some areas of the state are experiencing overnight low temperatures in the 80’s which is 12-13 degrees above average for this time of year. The hot stretch is expected to continue for another couple of weeks at least.
