GARDEN FIELD DAY AT ARMSTRONG RESEARCH FARM
(LEWIS) A Garden Field Day will be held at the Armstrong Research Farm near Lewis on July 28th at 6:30 p.m.
Keith Booth, Director of the Wallace Foundation, said this year’s Home Garden Demonstration is devoted to children and cats and you’ll have to come to find out what that means.
“With that, Cindy Haynes, the head of the Home Demonstration Garden, will be explaining all the plants and flowers related to children and cats and Bernie Havlovic, the Farm Superintendent, will be covering the All American Selections,” said Booth. “As you remember, the All American Selections are varieties that seed companies provide to the research stations to evaluate to find out if they are ones they may use in the future. So, you may actually see some varieties there that you may not see any place else because they may not go on the market.”
Booth said Barb Fuller, Extension Nutritionist, will also do a presentation on Food Preservation.
“We do a lot of growing and appreciate the fresh fruits and vegetables, but there is also a lot of interest in preserving those for future use, and we’ve almost got away from doing that in the past,” said Booth.
Booth said the Field Day will conclude with Ice Cream and Strawberries.
