HOMECOMING CEREMONIES SCHEDULED FOR IOWA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD UNITS
(Camp Dodge) Community homecoming ceremonies for Iowa Army National Guard units mobilized as part of Operation Enduring Freedom will be held on Friday, July 22nd in Carroll and Council Bluffs. Local officials and Iowa National Guard leadership will participate and the public and media are welcome and encouraged to attend these homecoming ceremonies.
Homecoming ceremonies will be held July 22 for the following Iowa Army National Guard units:
Company A, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry (Carroll). Homecoming ceremony starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Carroll High School football complex at 640 North Grant Road. Buses will enter Iowa via Interstate 35 South, then turn west on onto U.S. Highway 20, then south onto Iowa Highway 4, then west on Iowa Highway 175, then south on U.S. Highway 71, then east on U.S. Highway 30 to Carroll.
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry (Council Bluffs). Homecoming ceremony starts at 3:30 at the Mid-American Center. Buses will enter Iowa via Interstate 35 South to Des Moines, then west on Interstate 80 to Council Bluffs. At Exit 8, they'll turn west onto East Kanesville Boulevard to East Broadway, which merges into West Broadway to Pearl Street. They'll turn south onto Pearl Street, past Bayliss Park to Willow Avenue, to South 7th Stree and then south onto South 7th Street onto the South Expressway to 23rd Avenue. They'll then turn right onto 23rd Avenue to 29th Street and then south at 29th Street to the Mid-American Center.
