PLANS SET FOR THE T-FRED GOLF TOURNAMENT
(Atlantic) The Trevor Frederickson Memorial Fund Committee has announced plans for the 3rd Annual T-Fred Memorial Golf Tournament to be held Saturday, August 13, at the Nishna Hills Golf Course. Frederickson, the son of Darrin and Melanie Petty of Atlantic and Gary and Kari Frederickson of Council Bluffs, lost his life in a 2009 home fire.
In his honor, a four person best ball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in three flights and on every hole, including the opportunity to win a brand new car on Deter Motor Company's hole in one! A silent auction, t-shirt sales, and free will donation meal will be held all day in the club house with the public invited to attend. The meal will consist of a hot dog or hamburger, chips, and homemade cookie or bar.
Proceeds from the event have funded three annual scholarships and donations to a variety of recipients including the Atlantic Food Pantry, AHS Athletics Department, school and public libraries, Friends of Lake Anita's fishing clinic, Kiwanis Club's bicycle helmet program, Cass County Fair, Atlantic Parks and Recreation, Nishna Valley Family YMCA's Partnership With Youth program, Atlantic Nursing and Rehab's Easter egg hunt, Atlantic Little League's Trevor Frederickson Baseball/Softball Clinics, and The Compassionate Friends.
"There are numerous projects we feel would be worthwhile to support, but choose our recipients based on Trevor's specific interests," explained Petty, Fund representative. "To date, over $15,500 has been disbursed! We are so thankful for the tremendous support we receive at the tournament and throughout the year. It allows something positive to come out of something horrible, and that truly helps us get through."
