(Red Oak) The Red Oak School District is looking into facility improvements.
Red Oak Superintendent Terry Schmidt said a couple years ago the Board of Directors set a goal to plan for the future and facility improvements that make sense for the community and to get enough technical information that they could make some good decisions.
Schmidt said they hired a firm to examine all of the facilities and they received a report from them which needs to be studied. The Board then decided to put together a diverse community committee to take a look at the information.
“The board employed a communications firm that deals specifically, and has strategies to work with community engagement, and that firm is called UNICOM and they are out of St. Louis, Missouri,” said Schmidt. “They have done some work in some neighboring states and a little bit of work on the eastern side of Iowa and they come highly recommended.”
Schmidt added, “The board interviewed them, hired them, and they have their first meeting this Wednesday night where the community engagement specialist will work with our 15 committee members to determine the next steps.”
Schmidt said at this point there is no timeline in place for facility improvements.
