WALNUT CITY COUNCIL MEETS THURSDAY NIGHT
(Walnut) The Walnut City Council’s financial participation in the Residential Sidewalk Replacement Program is one of many items on the agenda for tomorrow night’s meeting.
Walnut City Clerk Terri Abel says for the past several years the city council has allocated $5,000 per fiscal year as an incentive for homeowners to replace their public sidewalks.
“It has been well received by our residents and we have had many of them participate in that,” said Abel. “The Council seems to think it’s a pretty good incentive.”
Abel says the city reimburses the property owner $5.00 per running foot, which takes care of the concrete cost.
“We would like to give them this incentive rather than go out and mark sidewalks and force them, we have done that also, but it has been well received and we have replaced a lot of sidewalk that way,” said Abel.
The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Walnut City Hall.
