(Atlantic) U.S. 3rd Congressional District candidate David Young met with a group of Republicans at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club Friday as part of his campaign swing through southwest Iowa.
David Young, a sixth generation Iowan grew up in Van Meter, attended Buena Vista College, and then went on to graduate from Drake University. Most recently he served the people of Iowa for seven years as the Chief of Staff to Senator Chuck Grassley.
Young says that he is taking his passion, fighting for the people of Iowa, another step forward and using his experience and proven solutions to work for Iowans.
“You just look at what is happening with our national debt, $17-trillion, and what is happening with our economy with issues like Obama Care, and what the EPA is doing and those kind of things,” explained Young. “And I really get concerned about what’s happening with the debt we are passing on to our kids and lack of really good jobs out there.”
Young says as Chief of Staff for Senator Grassley, he worked daily on behalf of Iowans.
“I am concerned about the trust deficit out there,” said Young. “We see a lot of our public officials, and it’s on both sides of the isle, who I think are abusing the jobs that they have. It’s abusing tax payer money and I want to try and turn that around. I have had a good mentor in Charles Grassley who has been able to teach me how to go after the Government on behalf of the taxpayers.”
Young says dealing with government shouldn’t be that hard. Government exists to serve the people, not the other way around.
“It’s time to for the Government to work for the people and I don’t like the way they are riding roughshod over the constitution,” Young said. “I want to take a stick and put it in my hand and whack them where it needs be, and tell them this is not what our founding fathers envisioned.”
David Young tells KSOM/KS95 news that he would push the Federal Government to pass a budget every year because that is the law. He also wants to cut spending or at least freeze spending, and not allow the government to spend anymore than they take in.
The 3rd Congressional District consists of the sixteen counties of Pottawattamie, Mills, Fremont, Page, Montgomery, Cass, Adair, Taylor, Ringgold, Union, Adams, Madison, Warren, Polk, Dallas, and Guthrie.
