(Atlantic) February is National Oral Health Month. Taylor Schroeder of Schroeder Family Dental in Atlantic says they'll be heading to area schools throughout the month.
"We'll do presentations to different aged kids for dental health month. Toothbrushes are usually dispensed to different daycares. We generally give toothbrushes and toothepast out, that does two things, it gives them one if they don't already have one or just gives them a secondary one to have on hand that they don't have to buy."
Staying on top of your oral health might be more important than a lot of people realize.
"A lot of your overall health is affected to due your gum health. Gum disease and a lot of health complications show up...and a lot of that can be scence in the mouth such as diabetes, oral cancer, heart disease and things like that."
Schroeder says most people do a good job of making it to the dentist for regular check-ups at least once per year.
