(Clarinda) Clarinda Police Chief Keith Brothers reminds residents to take the City’s Snow Ordinance Seriously. He says during the latest “snowmageddon,” the city issued twenty-eight parking citations for failure to comply which he says causes a significant amount of problems.
“At first blush it seems trivial if they park their vehicle on the street during a snow event,” stated Brothers. “But if you see the overall picture, governmental entities spend a lot of money on snow removal operations so it kind of behooves us all in our communities to get the vehicles moved so that snow removal can be done as timely as possible. And in the end it saves us all money, is the way I see it.”
Chief Brothers says the City’s fines are relatively low compared to a lot of other cities. He says violators must pay a $15.00 fine payable to city hall within the first 30 days. If a violator is delinquent it goes up to $20.00, if not paid by then, the fine can get as high as $80.00.
