(Harlan) A proposal to rezone a property in Harlan did not pass at the Harlan City Council meeting Tuesday night.
Harlan City Clerk Debra Sawyer said there was a request to re-zone 812 Hill Street from R-2 (One & Two-Family Residential) to B-2 (General Business District).
“The property was being requested a Real Estate Agent with a possible client who would like to change it from residential to business, but after performing some due diligence the council felt that they weren’t prepared to change the zoning at this time,” explained Sawyer.
In other activity, the Harlan City Council approved tax abatements for properties at 1326 Chatburn Avenue, 1317 16th Street, 1007 16th Street, 1503 Westridge Drive, and 1106 Hill Street. Sawyer said the tax abatements are for credits for high efficiency or changes or renovations to the homes that follow the specifics that qualify under their ordinances.
