(Exira) Fifty-eight Exira-EHK school district patrons braved the cold and snow and headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on the districts Revenue Purpose Statement.
According to the Audubon County Auditors’ Office, 57-people voted yes to one no-ballot. The special election was authorized by the State of Iowa which specifies the use of the sales, services and use tax funds. This statement comes from the one-cent sales tax and can be used for things along the line of educational funds or school infrastructure.
Exira-EHK Superintendent Dean Schnoes says the money helps provide a good quality of education for the district.
Schnoes says both districts already have this plan in place and it didn’t have to be renewed until 2020. However, because of the new district, the school board association said they needed to have a vote.
