(Des Moines) The latest attempt to regulate automated traffic enforcement devices...or so called "Red-Light Camers"...got the "Green Light" from a house sub-committee Wednesday. Osage Republican Josh Byrnes says his goal is to try to get some "Regulatory Uniformity" across the state...
"Right now I would consider it kind of the wild, wild west. Everybody's got these cameras, they are throwing them up different places, there's not a lot of consistency if you go from one community to another and so what this bill is really trying to do is start a conversation to address this issue."
The bill advanced with unanimous bipartisan support out of sub-committee this morning. Byrnes, who also chairs the house transportation committee, says he plans to bring the bill up for debate as soon as tomorrow.
